Nestled in the rolling farmland of County Leitrim, Ballinamore Golf Club offers a picturesque parkland experience for a new generation of golfers looking to make their mark.
Visitors to this nine-hole gem enjoy panoramic views of the dramatic Sliabh-an-Iarainn slopes, with the Ballinamore-Ballyconnell Canal bordering the fairways.
Founded in 1934 and redesigned by Dr Arthur Spring in 1996, the club has become one of the region’s finest.
The intimate clubhouse commands views of the first, third, fourth and ninth holes, providing a friendly hub for members and guests alike.
Ballinamore caters to every generation, but while the club boasts a very active Senior section, its vibrant Junior section is generating significant momentum.
Under the guidance of Junior Convenor Rory O’Rourke, the club has invested heavily in youth development.
That investment paid off spectacularly recently with the inaugural Junior Captain’s Day.
The event culminated two years of hard work by the Junior Committee and drew nearly 40 junior players in honour of Junior Captain Aidan McNiff.
Following a competitive 9-hole qualifier, the top twelve players advanced to a three-hole play-off, cheered on by a large crowd of supporters and willing caddies.
When the scores were finalised, young Mark Prior emerged victorious, claiming the top prize and the Peter Duignan Perpetual Trophy.
Pete Duignan presented the trophy on behalf of his family, in memory of his father, Peter, who was instrumental in junior golf at the club during the 1980s and 1990s.
