Golf Ireland professional Liam Nolan has secured his place on the 2027 DP World Tour after the HotelPlanner Tour Grand Final in Mallorca at the weekend.

The Galway golfer began his final round 12th on the Road to Mallorca rankings, knowing the top 15 would gain promotion to the DP World Tour. Nolan carded seven birdies in a five-under-par round of 67 to finish the week on 11-under-par and secure his card.

The result caps off a breakthrough season for the 26-year-old, who recorded five top-10 finishes throughout the campaign, including his maiden professional victory at the Abu Dhabi Challenge in October.

Nolan is one of 13 players supported through the Golf Ireland Professional Scheme, backed by Sport Ireland, and Golf Ireland High Performance Director Neil Manchip praised the significance of his achievement.

“Golf Ireland would like to congratulate Liam on securing his DP World Tour card and the outstanding season he has produced to reach this point,” said Manchip.

“Liam has shown consistency again this year and his determination has helped him perform at the top level of one of the most competitive environments in world golf. To finish inside the top 10 on the Road to Mallorca is another fantastic achievement.

“Liam has been part of the Golf Ireland pathway throughout his amateur career and has continued to develop since turning professional. Watching him take this step onto the DP World Tour is exciting for us too, and we cannot wait to see what he can achieve next season.”

The Galwayman will now join an increasingly strong Irish contingent on the DP World and LET Tours in 2027, marking another significant success story for the Golf Ireland High Performance programme and Professional Scheme.

“Liam’s achievement in securing his DP World Tour card is a significant milestone in his career and another positive reflection of the strength of Irish golf,” said Golf Ireland CEO Mark Kennelly.

“To see Liam progress from our amateur pathway and establish himself on one of Europe’s most competitive tours is really encouraging. The growing number of Irish players earning professional opportunities is a testament to the talent coming through and the support structures that help players make the transition.”

Nolan’s promotion comes after a season of steady progression, highlighted by his victory in Abu Dhabi and a series of strong performances that placed him firmly among the leading players on the HotelPlanner Tour.

“I started working with Kenny (Fahey) when I was 12, which is mental. It’s pretty class. He’s seen me swing it terribly and really well. This week was pretty good,” said Nolan.

“It’s nice to be done. To have the card is pretty surreal. Even after the win in Abu Dhabi, you still have to work so hard to get a card, but now the work is done. So, I can just relax for about a week and then get back to work.”
