Killeen Course claims prestigious honour for the second time in three years
Killarney Golf & Fishing Club is delighted to announce that its renowned Killeen Course has been named IGTOA Parkland Course of the Year 2026 at the Irish Golf Tour Operators Association (IGTOA) Gala Irish Golf Awards, held at Ballygarry Estate Hotel & Spa in Tralee on Monday, 19 October.
The recognition marks Killeen’s second success in just three years, following its previous win in 2024, and is a wonderful acknowledgement of the continued dedication and commitment of everyone involved at the club.
Established in 1893, Killarney Golf & Fishing Club holds a special place in Irish golfing history. A six-time host of the Irish Open, including four championships staged on the Killeen Course, the club has long been recognised for its championship pedigree and spectacular setting adjacent to Killarney National Park, overlooking the beautiful Lakes of Killarney.
The latest award comes at a time of continued progress for the club, with significant strides being made in recent years to enhance the overall golfing experience for members and visitors alike.
Following the announcement, Colin Finlay, Director of Golf at Killarney Golf & Fishing Club, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to receive this award, particularly for the second time in three years. It is a wonderful recognition of the hard work and dedication of everyone at the club, especially Enda Murphy and our greenkeeping team, whose commitment to presenting Killeen to the highest standards is exceptional. We are very grateful to IGTOA and its members for this endorsement, and to our staff, members and volunteers for their continued support.”
The award comes as the club continues to invest in its future, having recently announced significant plans to upgrade its other championship course, Mahony’s Point, with work commencing just a few weeks ago. The improvements reflect the club’s ambition to provide two championship courses of distinctly different character, each offering its own memorable golfing experience.
The 29th annual IGTOA Conference and Gala Irish Golf Awards took place on 18 and 19 October in Tralee, bringing together leading golf tour operators, clubs, resorts and tourism representatives to recognise excellence within the Irish golf industry and celebrate Ireland’s continued appeal as a world-class golfing destination.
Killarney Golf & Fishing Club extends its congratulations to all fellow award winners and nominees and expresses its sincere appreciation to IGTOA and its members for their continued efforts in promoting Irish golf internationally.
