Blacklion’s Shauna Fee and Charleville’s Catriona White claimed the All-Ireland Women’s Silver and Bronze Medals on a blustery afternoon at Headfort.
In the Silver Medal final, Blacklion’s Fee made a stunning start, carding four net birdies and a net eagle in her opening nine to turn five under par nett.
A net birdie at 10 and another at 13 extended her lead and while net bogeys at the 15th and 16th opened the door for the chasing pack, she closed with a seventh net birdie at 18 for a six-under-par net 67.
That gave her a five-shot win over local Headfort member Orla O’Rorke, runner-up on one-under-par net 72.

In the Bronze Medal final, White reached the turn at net level par after two net birdies and two net bogeys.
She sparked on the back nine with net birdies at the 12th and 14th and a net eagle at 16, finishing on four-under-par net 69. She beat Forrest Little’s Aoife Kelly by three shots.

“I can’t believe I’ve won it,” White said. “It’s a fantastic feeling to win an All-Ireland.
“I’m playing golf 20 years and saw this competition early in the year. I said I’m going to go for it, but little did I know I was going to win. It’s fabulous.”
She added: “I didn’t play a practice round; we walked the first and looked at the tenth. I wanted to be fresh today, and it fit into place. I kept the head down, picked the target and committed to the shot.”
